Harvesting Arkansas: Turtle Island G.K. and Serenity Urban Wellness

Gabriyel “Gabe” El-Bey, a Marine veteran, founded Turtle Island G.K., an urban farm and food stand in Little Rock, Arkansas, focused on providing fresh, healthy food to the local community. Partnering with Dena Patterson, founder of Serenity Urban Wellness, the pair offers education, wellness events, and workshops on growing, preserving, and preparing nutritious food. Together, they work to combat food insecurity and promote sustainable, healthy living in the South End neighborhood of Little Rock through providing food and other forms of community engagement to families and individuals in the surrounding neighborhood.
